Pik L is undeniably one of the most accomplished stallions standing in North American today. He is one of the most dominant small tour horses to ever compete in the United States. As a sire, he has also shown his ability to pass on the qualities necessary to succeed as a performance champion. Pik L has consistently been ranked highly on the USEF Dressage Sire of the Year list. He is also routinely in the top five for living North American stallions.
This dark brown Hanoverian stallion by Pik Bube II/Abajo xx/Lombard is a Class I stallion and completed his 100-Day Test in Germany. Pik L’s performance career has lasted for more than 14 years and is going strong. He has heart, stamina and a character that are beyond reproach!
Pik L has won dozens of CDI small tour classes in this country’s most prestigious shows. In 2003 and 2004, Pik L won five of six classes at Dressage at Devon, scoring a 74.583% in the Intermediaire I Freestyle in 2004. At the 2003 Pan American Games, Pik L placed fourth and was also awarded the 2003 USDF Intermediaire I Horse of the Year. During the CHIO Aachen in 2004, Pik L placed fourth in the Intermediaire Freestyle, only bested by mounts from the likes of Karen Rehbein, Andreas Helgstrand and Edward Gal.
His historic transition from professional to junior rider showcased Pik L’s incredible temperament. Noel Williams, daughter of George and Roberta Williams, rode Pik L during the 2005 season. Together they claimed two gold medals at the 2005 USDF Junior Team Championships. The scores they received were the highest ever earned by a Junior rider at Devon. The next year Pik L swept the Junior division with his partner Emily Wagner for a second time. Making history again with yet another Junior rider, Pik L brought home the team gold medal at the 2011 FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships with Kya Endreson aboard. This team continued their dominance and swept the 2011 USEF Junior Championships in Gladstone, New Jersey.
At Grand Prix, Pik L earned top placings at shows such as the Palm Beach Dressage Derby with Danish rider Mikala Gundersen. In 2013, Pik L showed his passion for competition and continued desire to work. He returned to the showring with his owner Anne Sparks. She earned her USDF Bronze medal and was named USDF Region 5 Second Level Reserve Champion. Whether with a professional, junior or an amateur rider returning to the saddle after many years, Pik L is a force and a stallion for the ages.
Pik L is an exceptional choice to refine larger mares. With the blood of Pik König, he produces great rideability, easy temperaments and jumping ability. His offspring excel in the dressage ring but are also winners in hunters and eventing. Pik L’s progeny hold numerous titles with both amateurs and professionals. He has fathered many Elite Mare’s and EM candidates. He is the damsire of newly licensed German Hanoverian stallion Bodyguard.
His babies hold countless titles including National and Regional Championships and Horse of the Year honors. Among his notable get are Pikturesk, a Horse of the Year winner that has been trained and competed from Training through Prix St. Georges by his amateur owner Karen A. Williams. Pik L is also the sire of American-bred star Pikko del Cerro HU.
Pikko del Cerro HU has proven his father proud. This licensed son of Pik L is a three-time USEF National Champion. His triumphs include a long list of wins at every level. Dressage at Devon, his wins are almost as numerous as his father’s including 2009 Stallion Champion. His career as a performance horse is nothing short of spectacular. In 2013, he started his International Grand Prix career and has multiple CDI Grand Prix wins and multiple wins at Grand Prix in Germany.
