Hi All!
Where to start?
First there was the trip to Florida to see Leonberg in his first 5 star CDI—the Exquis World Dressage Masters. Lots of fun and a great experience for horse and rider. I had my parents and my friends, Mike and Sandy MacAllister, with me. It was fun for all of us to see Anky on a reining horse. We are from the west after all!
As I was traveling so were Mario and Derick. They brought a group of horses to the East Coast, including Pikka Dream, who is now with Mikala in Florida. After the Masters, Mario and Derick headed up to Virginia where they delivered Gold Tempest to her new owner, Cathy Stein. It is a match made in heaven. Congratulations Cathy!
After the Masters, I dropped my sons in Massachusetts and headed back to New Mexico. I was able to catch up on everything there in time to head for Reno, NV for the annual meeting of the American Hanoverian Society.
It was fun to spend time with my friends from the AHS. It was great to see Hugh up and about again. We heard about the progress that the German Verband is making around the world. Dr. Christmann again touted the importance of the G-line stallions in the breed. Our stallion Glorioso Noir was mentioned again as one of those stallions here in the U.S. that carries the G-line blood. Of course, technically he’s in Canada now!
I picked up the certificates for our Elite Mare Candidates and Jumper Improvement Mares. Way to go: Pikk Diva, Pikka Dream, Noble Destiny, Amata, Noble Soñadora and Athena Divina. Pik L was not left out; he earned a national placing at Grand Prix.
Over the same weekend, Mikala was in Florida working her magic. Leo and Mikala were 2nd in the Wellington CDI-W Grand Prix with a 69.064% behind Lars Petersen. They came in second in the Freestyle as well with a 70.45%. Way to go!
Wild Dance also showed—it was only his second show with Mikala. He was 6th in the PSG and 4th in the I-1. Keep your eyes on him at the Derby.
I will try to keep up with this every week, but we will see if I can manage…
Happy Valentines Day!
